In the days before giant LED billboards, or placing advertisements on buses or streetcars, ads appeared on the walls of buildings. Though time, weather and environmental damage are taking their toll, at least one or two signs still appear hazily as faded ghosts of themselves on the buildings of many towns. Because these ghost signs offer unique glimpses into the history and culture of a place, many cities now days are taking steps to preserve as many of their ghost signs as they can.
