These are the symbols on tombstones in the Texas area. They can be either religious or fraternal and in some case both. In some cases, the interpretation of the meaning is difficult and it is possible that the persons selecting the tombstone selected the symbol simply because they liked it. Also, the original meaning of the symbol had been lost by the time of the burial.
